We've been hearing a tremendous amount of talk about how the cloud and hosted models will impact small businesses and the VARs who serve their IT needs. Adoption is slowly on the rise but there tend to be more questions then answers. According to analysts at Gartner, hosted infrastructure and software offerings are gaining a foothold and cloud solutions will be so entrenched by 2012 that 20 percent of businesses worldwide will own no IT assets whatsoever. Annual spending by North American SMBs on remote managed services will rise 230 percent between 2009 and 2013, according to analysts at AMI-Partners Inc.
