Integrating Cloud Services Management Into Your IT Operations

Getting into the cloud is a lot easier than how you can better use it and make it a part of your overall IT operations. In this seminar, we look at ways that you can better govern your cloud deployments and make use of the best practices of IT that you use for your own servers.

We'll address such issues as:

• Do you have automated procedures that allow you to spin up or spin down resources when they are or aren't needed? There are numerous "orchestration" tools that do this and we'll look at how several of these operate from Skytap, Nimbula, Cumulogic and ScaleXtreme.
• Do you have procedures for securing your VMs from attack, or policies in place that prohibits access to stopping or starting them from your employees? Tools such as Reflex, Dome9 and Hytrust are just some of the ones used in this situation.
• Do you understand the cost of your cloud-based services and can you monitor any changes in these costs to determine if you need to switch to another provider? There are various tools that are now around that help you compare these costs, for example.
